Job summary

Yeo Valley Production Ltd is seeking a Technical Operator to join our Nights team at Newton Abbot. The role operates 18:00 to 06:00, four nights on, four nights off, to support production targets and maintain equipment performance.

You will apply your operational and mechanical skills to troubleshoot complex processes, run maintenance tasks, validation checks and optimise machines to help us meet KPI targets and maximise asset utilisation.

• Experience as a machine operator in a production environment.
• Ability to undertake manual tasks.
• Strong attention to detail and communication.

Responsibilities

• Undertake routine checks to validate and maintain equipment safety control systems.
• Active involvement in quality management and hygiene controls to ensure product safety and quality.
• Lead good manufacturing practices and workplace organisation; maintain hygiene and PPE standards.
• Operate and optimise equipment to meet production demand and deliver high-quality products.
• Perform advanced fault finding and root-cause analysis; escalate to engineering when needed.
• Ensure proper cleaning and maintenance of equipment.
• Collaborate with team and ensure effective handovers; identify common challenges and opportunities.
• Motivate the team with a proactive, energetic approach.

So, what will I be doing?

We are looking for a Technical Operator to join our Nights team at Newton Abbot. This role will be 4 nights on 4 nights off working 18:00 to 6:00.

As the Technical Operator you will be utilising your operationaland mechanical skills and knowledge, you will be the go-to person for all in the team that need support with complex operational processes, optimising complexmachines or identifying root cause of underlying problems. Through the undertaking of maintenance tasks, validation checks andoptimisation of the machines, you will ensure the team are able to meet their daily Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) with optimal utilisation of our assets and raw materials.

Your responsibilities:

• Undertake routine checks to validate and maintain equipment safety control systems to maintain statutory compliance. Escalate any food safety breach or quality issue and ensure that any product below our standards is identified and held and the issues are escalated appropriately, resolved and released.
• Active involvement, commitment and governance of the quality management system, making sure all relevant controls and procedures are completed effectively to validate food safety controls and the products we make exceed customer and consumer expectations.
• Understands, adheres and leads good manufacturing practices and company standards of hygiene, PPE, and dress code. Role models a 'Clean as You Go' approach, leading workplace organisation and visual management standards with the team.
• Effective operation and optimisation of equipment and priorities to meetthe production demand and delivery of the highest quality of products.
• Undertake advanced/complex fault finding, decision making and rectification on equipment and lead the identification of root cause, escalating to engineering when required.
• Ensuring all equipment is properly cared for by the completion of effective cleaning and maintenance tasks.
• Work across the team and effective handovers to understand common challenges and opportunities seeking to identify where investigations may help most.
• Energises the team and demonstrates a consistently enthusiastic approach, taking action quickly and encouraging others to do the same.
