Job description

Workerbee Post is looking for a Technical Operator / Facility Assistant to join their team ASAP. This role will be based in Manchester for a 3 x month trial with a view to becoming permanent.

About the role

Workerbee Post is a post‑production facility working with major UK broadcasters. We’re looking for a Technical Operator to keep the edit floor running - the person editors turn to when a machine misbehaves, a remote session drops, or a review copy needs to be out the door in ten minutes. This is a hands‑on role in a busy facility. No two days are the same: you might spend the morning tracking down why a remote editor’s connection keeps stuttering and the afternoon ingesting a card of rushes and prepping three edit suites for a new job. It’s a genuine entry point into post‑production technology, and we will train the right person.

What you’ll be doing
  • Supporting remote editors. Diagnosing and fixing connectivity issues so editors working off‑site can get on with cutting.
  • First‑line technical support. Screen resolutions, audio routing, software updates and settings, application crashes — the everyday problems that come up when hardware and software are pushed hard all day.
  • Preparing edit machines. Setting up and configuring suites and workstations so editors can sit down and start work.
  • Review deliverables. Exporting review copies from projects and uploading them to our viewing platform.
  • Media handling. Copying, verifying and ingesting camera media and deliverables.
What we’re looking for Essential
  • Good working knowledge of PC and Mac hardware and software — comfortable getting under the bonnet of both.
  • Familiarity with Avid Media Composer and DaVinci Resolve.
  • Experience with remote connectivity software such as Parsec or HP Anyware.
  • A methodical problem solver: someone who works a fault through logically rather than guessing.
  • Patience and good people skills. You’ll often be helping someone who is stressed and against a deadline — staying calm and clear matters as much as the technical fix.
  • Reliable, organised, and happy to take ownership of a task through to completion.
A bonus
  • Basic computer networking knowledge (IP addressing, DNS, VPNs, switches).
  • Any experience in a post‑production, broadcast or studio environment.
  • Familiarity with shared storage, media formats and codecs.

We’re open to applicants early in their careers. If you don’t tick every box but you’re technically curious, quick to learn and good with people, we’d still like to hear from you.

What we offer
  • Full training and hands‑on experience across a professional broadcast post‑production pipeline.
  • A varied role with real responsibility and room to grow into more senior technical work.

Applicants must have the right to work in the UK.
