Nestlé Halifax, located in West Yorkshire, is a major confectionery site producing Quality Street and After Eight using advanced automated filling and packing technology to deliver high-quality products safely and efficiently.

As a Technical Operator you will keep production lines safe, reliable and efficient, perform first-line mechanical repairs, respond to faults, support changeovers and help colleagues build capability on a 12-hour rotational shift.

Qualifikationen

• NVQ Level 2 in engineering or equivalent with certification.
• Ability to diagnose faults and perform first-line mechanical repairs.
• Knowledge of lubrication, changeovers and running adjustments.
• Understand GMP and safe working practices in manufacturing.
• Capable of rotating shift patterns and documenting work clearly.

• Contribute to 5S and continuous improvement activities to enhance safety, quality and performance.

As a Technical Operator, you will help keep our production lines operating safely, reliably and efficiently. You will combine hands-on technical capability with day-to-day operational support to resolve faults, complete first-line repairs and maintain consistent product quality., You will play an important part in producing some of the nation's favourite confectionery. By responding to operational issues, supporting effective changeovers and helping colleagues build capability, you will contribute to safer working, reliable output and continuous improvement across the factory.

Key responsibilities

• Safety & Sustainability: Maintain a safe, healthy and sustainable working environment, following site procedures and encouraging safe working practices.
• Technical Reliability: Diagnose faults, complete first-line technical interventions, including lubrication, breakdown repairs, running adjustments and equipment changeovers, and identify preventative maintenance requirements to support the long-term reliability and performance of production equipment.
• Operational Performance: Support line performance by understanding equipment, processes and key performance indicators, reviewing daily results and escalating variances.
• Quality & Compliance: Protect product quality by working in line with the Nestlé Quality Management System, site standards and accurate documentation requirements.
• Continuous Improvement: Contribute to 5S, Total Performance Management and focused problem-solving activity to improve safety, quality and performance.
• Team Capability: Share knowledge through training, instruction and competency assessment, while keeping relevant teams informed during line activity and changeovers.

Your Ingredients for Success

You will bring a practical, safety-focused approach and enjoy understanding how equipment works. You will be comfortable solving problems, communicating clearly and taking ownership for accurate, high-quality work.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in a relevant engineering discipline. Evidence of certification will be required.
• Ability to diagnose operational faults, complete first-line mechanical repairs, lubrication, changeovers and running adjustments, and identify preventative maintenance activities required to maintain equipment reliability and performance.
• Understanding of safe working practices, product quality requirements and Good Manufacturing Practice within an operational environment.
• Ability to share clear updates, complete documentation accurately and support the training or instruction of colleagues.
• A thorough and professional approach, with the ability to take ownership and contribute effectively on a rotational shift pattern.

Desirable

• Industry Experience: Experience within a fast-moving consumer goods manufacturing environment.
• Exposure to 5S, Total Performance Management or structured problem-solving activity.

Salary and Contract

• Salary: £47,967 for a 36-hour contract or £56,445 for a 42-hour contract, dependent on factory zone location.
