Job summary

Nestle UK&I in York is seeking an Engineering Technician to implement and run the factory asset maintenance programme, aimed at eliminating unplanned stops and reducing maintenance costs. You will analyze unplanned technical failures and execute planned maintenance to improve asset intensity.

You will provide technical expertise to reduce losses, coach staff, and participate in problem solving while supporting budgeting and training initiatives.

Qualifications

• Must have NVQ Level 3 and National Certificate or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, plus time served apprenticeship.
• Dual trained (mechanical & electrical) preferred with manufacturing experience.
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671).
• Experience in installation, inspection and testing; City and Guilds training is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise to reduce technical and production losses; coach and problem solve; share knowledge and build competence.
• Input for annual maintenance budget; report and track maintenance work order costs.
• Support production to eliminate quality defects, safety risks and chronic technical issues.
• Lead and participate in breakdown analysis; ensure timely, high-quality maintenance activities.
• Assist with the technical training program for factory staff.
• Strong fault diagnosis and problem-solving skills; familiarity with a CMMS.

Salary £68749.00 depending on experience.

Shift Pattern: 24/7 cover days & nights spread over a 4 week rolling pattern

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager you will be responsible for the implementation and execution of the factory asset maintenance programme aimed to eliminate unplanned stops and optimise maintenance cost and as a result increase asset intensity.

This includes the repairing, reporting and analysis of unplanned technical failures, and the execution of planned and scheduled maintenance in order to prevent unplanned technical failures. Provide technical expertise to reduce both technical and production losses, including coaching and/or participating in problem solving, implementing solutions, sharing knowledge, building competence.

Your impact

As an Engineering Technician, you will participate in the implementation and execution of the factory asset maintenance programme, aimed to eliminate unplanned stops and optimise maintenance cost and as a result increase asset intensity.

Key Responsibilities

• Providing technical expertise to reduce both technical and production losses, including coaching and/or participating in problem solving, implementing solutions, sharing knowledge, building competence
• Providing input for annual maintenance budget. Reporting and tracking of the maintenance work order costs
• Support production to eliminate quality defects, safety risks and chronic technical issues
• Lead and participate in breakdown analysis
• Actively participate in maintenance routines to ensure that maintenance activities are scheduled and executed in time with high quality
• Assist with the technical training program for all factory operational staff
• Strong Problem Solving and Fault Diagnosis skills are essential as well as previous knowledge of a Computerised Maintenance Management System.
• You will be a team player with a real drive for continuous improvement and development.

Your ingredients for success

The Successful Applicant:

• Will have an NVQ Level 3 and National Certificate or Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, as well as a time served apprenticeship (please ensure detailed on CV)
• Ideally you will be dual trained (mechanical and electrical) with proven experience in manufacturing, Food industry being preferable
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671)
• Experience in Installation and inspection and Testing e.g minor works training or City and Guilds
