Job summary

Tristram Parker Recruitment is seeking a Technical Operations Manager for an established external wall insulation business in Loughborough. You will lead technical support, services and R&D, ensuring excellence across product development, certification and QA.

The role requires a strong construction background, hands-on leadership of multidisciplinary teams, and a keenness to drive continuous improvement while maintaining compliance with UK Building Regulations and NHBC standards.

Qualifications

• A degree or equivalent in Architectural Technology, Construction or related built environment.
• Minimum three years' experience in construction, building products, technical services or retrofit sectors.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, façades, cladding or building envelope systems.
• Experience managing technical teams and coordinating multiple disciplines.
• Ability to interpret drawings, specifications and construction details.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving and stakeholder management skills.
• Commercial awareness with ability to balance technical requirements and business objectives.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and CAD/BIM documentation.
• Full UK driving licence and ability to commute to Loughborough.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Technical Support, Technical Services and R&D functions and teams.
• Oversee delivery of technical advice to architects, specifiers, contractors and internal departments.
• Prepare and deliver technical specs, CAD drawings, BIM details and project documents.
• Oversee U-value calculations, condensation risk assessments and thermal performance evaluations.
• Ensure information and installation guidance comply with UK Building Regulations and standards.
• Manage product testing, third-party certification, quality assurance and compliance.
• Support construction sites with technical issues, inspections and training.
• Collaborate with senior management on new product development and improvements.
• Maintain ISO 9001 quality management procedures and non-conformance reporting.
• Monitor legislation and standards changes to ensure compliance.
• Produce technical reports, performance updates and management information.
• Develop and motivate technical teams, delivering high standards of performance.
