Job summary

OpenAI in London, UK is seeking a Technical Operations Analyst to solve ambiguous, high-impact operational problems using data, technical tools, and strong judgment. You will work as an experienced individual contributor across USRO, moving from problem definition through analysis, workflow design, implementation, measurement, and handoff.

The scope spans emerging-risk detection, operational quality, automation, and launch readiness, with the role expected to move between areas as needs evolve.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in technical operations, data analytics, trust and safety, risk operations, or related field.
• Strong SQL and comfort with unfamiliar datasets, schemas, joins and data-quality issues.
• Built dashboards, tools, automations, or operating systems from scoping to adoption and maintenance.
• Ability to use AI and LLM tools to accelerate workflows with testing and human oversight.
• Ability to measure technical systems using precision, recall, coverage, QA and human review.

Responsibilities

• Independently scope ambiguous operational problems and turn them into analyses, workflows, tools, or decision systems.
• Analyze large datasets to identify patterns, data-quality gaps, and source-of-truth issues.
• Build and maintain dashboards, monitoring, alerts, and recurring reporting.
• Develop systems for detecting and assessing emerging risks with feedback loops.
• Support cloud deployments by validating data pipelines and safety signals.
• Design quality controls including sampling plans, validation holdouts, and fallbacks.
• Translate findings into clear recommendations for partner teams.
• Collaborate across Operations, Product, Engineering, Data Science, Safety, Legal and Support.
• Document system logic and maintenance expectations for ongoing use.
