Job summary

OpenAI is seeking a Technical Operations Analyst to solve high-impact operational problems using data and strong judgment. You will work across USRO, moving from problem definition through analysis, workflow design, implementation, measurement, and handoff.

The role spans emerging-risk detection, operational quality, automation, and launch readiness. You will query and validate data, build dashboards, and use AI tools to accelerate work while ensuring quality and human oversight.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in technical operations, data analytics, trust and safety, or related fields.
• Proficient in SQL and comfortable with unfamiliar datasets and data-quality issues.
• Built dashboards, tools, automations, or operating systems from scoping to adoption.
• Familiar with AI/LLM tools to speed workflows with testing and human oversight.
• Able to measure systems with precision, recall, quality assurance, and human review.
• Skilled at making decisions in scaled operations, with effective prioritization and incident response.
• Able to communicate complex findings clearly to technical and leadership audiences.

Responsibilities

• Independently scope ambiguous problems and turn them into analyses, workflows, tools, or decision systems.
• Analyze large datasets to identify patterns, data-quality gaps, and source-of-truth issues.
• Build and maintain dashboards, monitoring, alerts, and recurring reporting.
• Develop systems for detecting emerging risks, including labeling and human review feedback loops.
• Support cloud deployments by validating data pipelines and safety signals, and improve monitoring and escalation.
• Design quality controls like sampling plans, golden datasets, and validation holdouts.
• Use AI/LLM tools to accelerate workflows with testing and oversight.
• Translate findings into clear recommendations and next steps for partner teams.
• Collaborate across Operations, Product, Engineering, Data Science, Safety, Legal, Support for durable handoffs.
• Document system logic and operating procedures for ongoing maintenance.
