Job summary

Niyaa People in Birmingham is seeking a back-office Technical Officer to support procurement projects across housing, property and construction. You’ll review and develop technical specifications, pricing information and tender documentation to ensure projects are technically sound and market-ready.

The role focuses on technical documentation, pricing review and compliance within housing and construction procurement, working with cross-functional teams to deliver successful tenders in the public

Qualifications

• Experience writing/reviewing technical specifications for housing/construction.
• Ability to work with pricing, tender documentation and procurement processes.
• Familiarity with social housing/public-sector procurement is advantageous.

We’re recruiting for a Technical Officer to join a specialist procurement consultancy supporting public-sector and housing organisations across the UK.

This is a back-office technical rolein Birmingham supporting procurement projects across housing, property and construction. You’ll be responsible for reviewing and developing technical specifications, pricing information and tender documentation, helping ensure projects are technically sound and ready to go to market.

Key responsibilities of a Technical Officer:

• Writing, reviewing and adapting technical specifications for housing and construction contracts.
• Supporting procurement teams with technical documentation, tender exercises and contract requirements.
• Reviewing pricing schedules, cost models and tender submissions for accuracy.
• Researching technical standards, legislation, products and market information.

What We’re Looking For:

• Previous experience writing and/or reviewing technical specifications.
• You could come from a technical, procurement, asset management, commercial or cost/finance background, but you’ll need a good understanding of housing, property or construction and how specifications translate into procurement and pricing.
• Ideally, you’ll have experience within social housing, local government, a housing association, contractor or public-sector environment.
• Experience of planned maintenance, responsive repairs, asset management or construction procurement would be highly relevant.
• A relevant qualification such as RICS, CIOB, CIAT or similar would be advantageous but isn’t essential.
