Job summary

NMS Recruit Ltd t/a Russell Taylor Group is seeking an experienced Metallurgical Technical Manager to lead a team of technical specialists in Ellesmere Port. The role combines hands‑on metallurgical expertise with process development, manufacturing support and continuous improvement to drive site performance.

You will work closely with Production, Engineering, Quality and R&D to translate developments into robust manufacturing processes, with emphasis on safety and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science or closely related engineering discipline.
• Substantial hands‑on experience within an industrial metallurgical/advanced materials environment.
• Strong practical understanding of metallurgical processes and production troubleshooting.
• Proven track record of resolving complex technical issues and delivering measurable process improvements.
• Experience taking processes from development through to industrial scale production.
• Ability to lead and develop a technical team.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of technical specialists, engineers and scientists.

• Develop, optimise and improve metallurgical processes, operating parameters and production performance.

• Champion process safety, technical standards and continuous improvement.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Metallurgical Technical Manager to join a growing specialist manufacturing business investing heavily in its operations, technology and production capabilities.

This is a key technical leadership position, combining hands on metallurgical expertise with process development, manufacturing support and continuous improvement.

We’re looking for someone who understands metallurgy and materials science in practice - someone who can get onto the plant, understand complex processes, solve technical problems and drive improvements from development through to full-scale production.

The Role

About You

• The ability to combine strong technical expertise with the leadership of a technical team.

Experience with high temperature processing, vacuum technologies, metal melting, refining, reduction or casting would be advantageous.
