Job summary

Bristol City Council is seeking an experienced Technical Manager to join its Accessible Homes and TEC Hub. You will lead a multidisciplinary team delivering home adaptations for public and private sector homes, providing expert technical advice and managing complex cases to ensure safe, high‑quality outcomes and value for money.

The role involves overseeing standards, contractor performance, and collaboration with caseworkers, occupational therapists and cross‑directorate teams to deliver

Qualifications

• Strong construction, building, surveying, housing or property expertise.
• Experience of leading, supporting and developing technical staff.
• Strong knowledge of construction standards, compliance and health and safety.
• Experience of managing contractors, quality and performance.
• Excellent judgement, communication and partnership‑working skills.
• A commitment to inclusive leadership, excellent customer service and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop our team of technical professionals delivering adaptations across public and private sector homes.
• Provide expert technical advice and support the team with complex cases to ensure safety and value for money.
• Oversee technical standards, contractor performance, quality assurance, risk and service performance.
• Collaborate with caseworkers, occupational therapists and colleagues across Adult Social Care, Children’s Services and the Housing directorate.
