Job summary

RG Setsquare is seeking an experienced Technical Manager to oversee the Fixed Electrical Testing programme across 13 data centre sites. This hands-on leadership role supervises two AP Engineers and maintains responsibility for safe electrical testing, HV/LV switching, isolations and Permit to Work procedures.

You will act as the technical authority across the portfolio, ensuring activities are carried out safely, compliantly and without disruption to critical operations.

Technical Manager - Fixed Electrical Testing (Data Centres)

Location: Slough / Stockley Park, UK

Salary: Up to £75,000 + £5,000 car allowance

Contract: 1-year fixed-term contract

Hours: Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week

We are seeking an experienced Technical Manager to oversee the Fixed Electrical Testing (FET) programme across 13 critical data centre sites.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role, supervising two Authorised Person (AP) Engineers while maintaining responsibility for safe electrical testing, HV/LV switching, isolations and Permit to Work procedures. You will act as the technical authority across the portfolio, ensuring all activities are carried out safely, compliantly and without disruption to critical operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate two AP Engineers across 13 data centre sites.
• Carry out HV (11kV) and LV switching, isolations and operational AP duties when required.
• Issue, manage and cancel Permits to Work and Certificates of Isolation.
• Oversee the planning, scheduling and delivery of the Fixed Electrical Testing programme.
• Ensure compliance with BS7671, Guidance Note 3 and electrical Safe Systems of Work.
• Review and approve RAMS, SOPs and EOPs, ensuring robust safety procedures are followed.
• Audit contractors and enforce LOTO, electrical safety and risk management procedures.
• Liaise with site teams, contractors and client stakeholders to maintain safe, reliable operations.

Essential Requirements

• Active and current HVAP and LVAP authorisation.
• At least 5 years' experience in critical environments, ideally data centres or banking facilities.
• Minimum 2 years' supervisory or technical leadership experience.
• C&G 2391 Inspection and Testing, or equivalent.
• Current BS7671 qualification and an NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation, or equivalent.
• Strong practical experience in HV/LV switching, isolations, Permit to Work and electrical safety procedures.
• Ability to lead a team while remaining hands-on and travelling between multiple sites.

Package

• Up to £75,000 basic salary.
• £5,000 annual car allowance.
• Mileage paid from the agreed place of work (Slough or Stockley Park).
• 25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays.
• Monday-Friday working pattern, 40 hours per week.
• 1-year fixed-term contract.
