Job summary

HR GO Recruitment in Bishop's Stortford is seeking a technically minded Technical Line Operative for a well-established food manufacturer. You’ll be the first point of contact when production lines stop, using your mechanical knowledge to get things moving again.

Day shifts: 4 on/4 off, 7am – 7pm. The role covers mechanical fault finding, line set-ups, changeovers, and supporting maintenance while driving improvements and upholding quality, hygiene, HACCP and H&S standards.

Qualifications

• Experience fixing machinery and fault finding in a fast-paced production environment.
• Practical, hands-on approach with ability to stay calm under pressure.
• Strong communication skills across teams.
• Leadership mindset and ability to support/coaching other operators.

Responsibilities

• Mechanical fault finding, repairs and adjustments.
• Support line set-ups and changeovers.
• Respond quickly to breakdowns and production issues.
• Support Preventive Planned Maintenance (PPM) and work with the Engineering team.
• Help identify ways to improve efficiency and reduce downtime.
• Complete quality, hygiene, HACCP and Health & Safety checks.
• Communicate effectively with colleagues.
• Lead by example and coach other operators.
