Job summary

BAM UK & Ireland is hiring a Technical Lead - Temporary Works to provide technical leadership and act as the DI for Temporary Works Design. The role focuses on governance, standards, audits and development of engineering capability across projects and design teams.

You will lead competency programmes, oversee external partners, and champion innovation in temporary works delivery while guiding complex high-risk challenges and ensuring safety and quality across BAM projects.

Qualifications

• Chartered Engineer with ICE, IStructE or equivalent.
• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering required.
• Extensive temporary works design, assurance and governance experience.
• Knowledge of BS 5975, CDM Regulations and temporary works management.
• Experience as technical authority on complex projects.
• Proven leadership in engineering teams.
• Audits, assurance reviews and competency assessments experience.

Responsibilities

• Act as BAM UK & Ireland's technical authority for temporary works design.
• Provide expert guidance and assurance on complex engineering challenges.
• Lead technical governance, audits and design assurance activities.
• Develop and maintain temporary works standards, procedures and best practice.
• Drive engineering excellence, quality and continuous improvement.
• Lead competency, training and professional development programmes.
• Support recruitment, succession planning and capability development.
• Oversee external design partners' technical performance and assurance.
• Champion innovation and digital engineering in temporary works delivery.
