Job summary

National Highways is seeking a Technical Lead to co-ordinate and report on nationally important programmes across six regions, focusing on performance and technical progress. The role sits within the National Programmes Team and covers LED Upgrade, Small Schemes, Water Quality etc., with accountability for asset data and best-practice management.

Qualifications

Incorporated Engineer or near Chartered Engineer with a Civil Engineering degree or equivalent.
Proven experience developing schemes with knowledge of technical standards and asset policies.
Excellent stakeholder management and communication with ability to influence.
Strong commercial and financial acumen including budget and project management.
Good knowledge of CDM and Health & Safety regulations across highway design & construction.

Responsibilities

Lead and coordinate the National Programmes, setting strategy and direction.
Ensure asset needs are identified, scoped, prioritised and managed to meet objectives.
Collaborate with engineering, PMs, and delivery teams to align programmes with standards and buildability.
Oversee studies, surveys, design and delivery, managing budgets and asset data.
Identify opportunities for efficiencies through collaboration with stakeholders.
