Job summary

National Highways is seeking a Technical Lead to co-ordinate, monitor, support and report on nationally important programmes across the UK. The role focuses on performance, progress and delivering across multiple regions.

You will lead asset-focused initiatives, work with engineering and project teams to ensure governance, budget control and compliance with technical standards, and drive continuous improvement in asset management.

Qualifications

• Incorporated Engineer or near Chartered Engineer with Civil Engineering degree, HND or equivalent.
• Experience developing schemes with thorough understanding of technical standards, asset policies, specifications and strategies.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills with evidence of influencing relationships.
• Good commercial and financial acumen including budget and project management.
• Knowledge of CDM and Health & Safety regulations across highway design and construction.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the National Programmes, supporting the Head of National Programmes on strategy and direction.
• Identify, scope, prioritise and manage asset needs to achieve business objectives/outputs.
• Collaborate with engineering colleagues, Project Managers, Planning & Development managers and Scheme Delivery managers to reflect asset needs and ensure compliance with policies and buildability.
• Oversee commissioning of studies, surveys, design and delivery, managing related budgets, and ensuring asset information is up to date.
• Identify opportunities for efficiencies by working with stakeholders to share and implement ideas.
