Job summary

HSBC Global Services Limited seeks a Technical Lead – API to guide the CTO Developer Platforms, Standards and Controls team in delivering an end-to-end API standards program. You will lead across inception to delivery, shaping standards, incorporating AI enhancements, and driving customer-focused outcomes within HSBC’s global organisation.

Qualifications

• Extensive hands-on software development experience across multiple languages/frameworks.
• Strong grounding in design patterns, data structures, algorithms, architecture.
• Experience applying AI to software development patterns/processes to improve delivery at scale.
• Proven leadership skills guiding teams and creating productive environments.
• Product/project management capability (planning, resourcing, delivery).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for complex technical challenges.
• Experience working in a control environment or with technology controls.
• Experience working in a global organisation with distributed teams.

Responsibilities

• Be a proactive, collaborative and inquisitive member of the Standards and Controls leadership team.
• Act as a key technical leader, overseeing delivery from inception to completion.
• Shape and refine the bank’s API standards, gathering customer feedback and iterating.
• Explore AI opportunities (e.g., AI review feedback integrated into standards assessments).
• Lead/facilitate product planning and prioritisation aligned to the future vision for API standards and tooling.
• Align and communicate product roadmaps with customers at the centre of change.
• Champion the use of data and metrics to understand and improve customer outcomes.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to development teams; ensure best practices and continuous learning.
