Job summary

Elvet Recruitment is partnering with a construction and engineering business to recruit a Financial Accountant in County Durham. You will own statutory accounts, lead external audits and provide technical accounting support across the finance team.

The role requires ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualification and strong UK GAAP knowledge, with a proactive mindset to improve controls and processes within a busy finance function.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant with UK GAAP knowledge (FRS 102).
• Experience in statutory accounts, consolidation and external audits.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; high accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Prepare annual statutory financial statements under UK GAAP/FRS 102.
• Lead external audit process and coordinate with auditors.
• Manage statutory reporting and regulatory filings.
• Support corporation tax and VAT returns.
• Develop and improve financial controls and reporting processes.
• Provide technical accounting support across the finance team.
