Job summary

Everlinked Ltd in the West Midlands is seeking a hands-on technical estimator to lead the journey from inquiry to order in a focused manufacturing environment.

You will review customer specs, cost jobs, source materials, issue quotations, negotiate where needed and work closely with production to ensure quotes are feasible and delivered on time.

Qualifications

• Must have manufacturing or engineering background with multi-role exposure.
• Able to interpret technical drawings and customer requirements.
• Precise, methodical with attention to detail and good communication.

Responsibilities

Our client is a small but growing UK manufacturer in the metals industry, supplying some of the most demanding industries in the world — defence, telecoms, marine and general engineering.

The role

This is a rare, full-spectrum technical estimating role. You won't just be putting together quotes — you'll own the whole journey from enquiry through to order and delivery:

• Reviewing customer enquiries and technical specifications, working out material, process and testing requirements
• Estimating and costing jobs, sourcing material from suppliers where needed
• Preparing and issuing quotations, negotiating where required and processing orders through to delivery
• Building close working relationships with the production team to make sure what's quoted can be made, on time and to spec
• Acting as a key point of contact for customers — this is customer service and technical support as much as it is estimating

About you

• Come from a manufacturing or engineering background — ideally from a smaller, subcontract or precision engineering environment where you've had to wear more than one hat (estimating, technical, customer-facing)
• Comfortable interpreting technical drawings, specifications and customer requirements
• Methodical and precise: small errors here can have real consequences once something reaches the shop floor
• Confident communicating with both customers and internal production teams
• Happy to be based on-site, with occasional customer visits (mileage paid)
