Job summary

HR GO Recruitment is seeking an Estimating Engineer for a precision engineering and fabrications company in the UK. You will deliver accurate quotations, determine manufacturing costs and lead times for RFQs, working with Engineering, Procurement and site teams to ensure competitive, compliant bids.

This permanent role requires strong estimating knowledge across CNC milling/turning and sheet metal, with experience in aerospace or precision engineering.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in estimating/costing.
• Background in aerospace or precision engineering.
• Experience with CNC milling/turning and sheet metal.
• Experience working with Titanium, Aluminium and Steel.
• Proficient in MS Excel and CATIA.
• Proactive, deadline-driven and able to manage stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Estimate manufacturing and selling costs for CNC milling/turning work packages.
• Estimate costs for formed and sheet metal parts, including minor assembly.
• Obtain material, bought-out items and treatment prices and lead times with suppliers.
• Select the best machine tools and check capacity and routings.
• Produce accurate costings aligned to customer requirements and delivery timescales.
• Support Bid/No Bid process and prioritise workload effectively.
• Read and assess engineering drawings and interpret 3D models.
• Prepare and submit quotes/tenders fully compliant with RFPs.
• Update and maintain the bid register and use data to improve win rate.
• Remain compliant with company processes and support continuous improvement.

Job description

Estimating Engineer - New senior opportunity for an Estimating Engineer in this precision engineering and fabrications company. You will play a key role in delivering accurate quotations and tender submissions. You'll determine manufacturing costs and lead times for customer RFQs, working closely with Engineering, Purchasing/Procurement and site teams to ensure bids are competitive, compliant and commercially sound. You'll also act as a key commercial interface between the business and its customers.

Key responsibilities

• Estimate manufacturing and selling costs for CNC 3/4/5-axis milling and turning work packages
• Estimate manufacturing and selling costs for formed and sheet metal parts, including minor assembly where required
• Obtain material, bought-out items and treatment prices and lead times (working with suppliers and procurement)
• Select the best machine tools for parts and check capacity and routings
• Produce accurate costings aligned to customer requirements, quality expectations and delivery timescales
• Support the Bid/No Bid process and prioritise workload effectively
• Confidently read and assess engineering drawings; interpret 3D models using relevant viewers
• Prepare and submit quotes/tenders, ensuring bids are fully compliant with RFP requirements
• Update and maintain the bid register, using data to improve win rate and process performance
• Remain compliant with company processes and procedures; support continuous improvement

Essential skills & experience

• Proven experience in estimating/costing (essential)
• Background in aerospace or precision engineering (essential)
• Strong estimating knowledge across CNC milling/turning and sheet metal
• Experience working with Titanium, Aluminium and Steel
• Proficient in MS Office (especially Excel) and CATIA
• Proactive, deadline-driven, excellent communicator with strong stakeholder management
