Job summary

Zenovo in Bracknell is seeking an experienced Technical Engineering Manager to lead multidisciplinary electronics, mechanical engineering and new product development across the full lifecycle. You will provide technical leadership, guide design, verification, testing, manufacturing and deployment, and work closely with customers, suppliers and stakeholders.

The role requires a strong engineering background, proven leadership of engineers, and a track record in NPD and product delivery.

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified in Mechanical or Electronic Engineering or related discipline.
• Significant experience in engineering, NPD, design and technical project delivery across full lifecycle.
• Strong knowledge across mechanical, electronic and systems engineering.
• Proven leadership of engineers and ability to mentor and develop technical capability.
• Experience managing projects with resource planning, risk, schedules and KPIs.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership across engineering, production, testing and customer support activities.
• Support design-in, integration and development of third-party and customised engineering solutions.
• Resolve pre- and post-sales technical inquiries and assist Sales with customer design-in activities.
• Source and qualify components and third-party products considering cost and lead times.
• Oversee prototype manufacture, product integration, testing, and deployment activities.
• Manage EMC testing and operation of the in-house test facility and related procedures.
• Create and maintain technical, build, test and customer documentation with traceability and QMS compliance.
• Identify and resolve technical issues while driving corrective actions and quality improvements.

Role Overview:

Zenovo are looking for an experienced Technical Engineering Manager to join their client in Bracknell. A suitable candidate will have a strong engineering background with proven experience in new product development, engineering innovation, technical leadership and multidisciplinary product delivery.

Our client is an established business that supports customers across a variety of industries, with the design, integration, testing and supply of advanced electronic and engineered products.

In this role, the successful candidate will provide technical and engineering leadership across the complete product development lifecycle, acting as a key technical lead from initial customer requirements and concept development through to design, verification, testing, manufacturing and deployment.

The Engineering Manager will lead and develop engineering teams, coordinate multidisciplinary engineering activities and work closely with customers, suppliers, senior management and other stakeholders to deliver innovative, commercially viable engineering solutions.

Job Responsibilities:

• Provide technical leadership across engineering, production, testing and customer support activities.
• Support product design-in, integration and development of third-party and customised engineering solutions.
• Resolve pre- and post-sales technical enquiries and support the Sales team with customer design-in activities.
• Source and qualify components and third-party products, considering technical suitability, cost and lead times.
• Oversee prototype manufacture, product integration, testing, repair and modification activities.
• Manage EMC testing and the operation of the in-house test facility, including test procedures and equipment.
• Create and maintain technical, build, test and customer documentation, ensuring traceability and QMS compliance.
• Identify and resolve technical issues while driving corrective actions and quality improvements

Required Skills & Experience:

• Degree qualified in Mechanical, Electronic Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
• Significant experience in engineering, new product development, product design and technical project delivery, with a strong understanding of the full product lifecycle.
• Strong multidisciplinary engineering knowledge across mechanical, electronic and systems engineering.
• Proven experience leading and developing engineers, with the ability to mentor, motivate and build technical capability.
• Demonstrable experience managing engineering projects, including resource planning, technical risk, schedules, KPIs and delivery targets.
• Experience in product verification, validation, EMC/environmental testing and relevant industry standards, ideally within a regulated environment.
• Strong stakeholder, commercial and problem-solving skills, including experience with BOM cost analysis, tooling/procurement, design optimisation and continuous improvement
