Job summary

RES-Distribution Ltd is seeking a Field Based Technical Sales Engineer to cover the East England area. You will conduct site surveys, specify systems with installers, and produce on-site quotations while commissioning heat pump installations.

You will also hand over completed projects, resolve technical issues remotely, and maintain CRM records with strong collaboration to support the sales team.

As a Field Based Technical Sales Engineer you’ll be responsible for:

• Conducting technical site surveys
• agreeing system specifications with installers and homeowners
• producing on‑site quotations
• commissioning Air Source Heat Pump systems
• completing system handovers
• resolving technical issues through remedial visits
• Produce room‑by‑room heat loss calculations
• system designs and performance assessments using company design tools and established processes
• with full training and technical support provided.
• Compile technical proposals and quotations for the sales team
• ensuring accurate project records are maintained within the CRM system.
• Acting as the Nominated Technical Supervisor for all regional MCS projects
• ensuring every subcontracted installation adheres to MCS standards and Building Regulations.
• Providing phone‑based and remote technical support
• maintaining strong working relationships with assigned installers
• and acting as a consistent technical point of contact.

This is a full-time, permanent, field based role working 42.5 hours per week Monday to Friday between 8am - 5pm.

And here’s what we’d like you to have:

• Plumbing & Heating:Level 3 NVQ or equivalent.
• Heat Pumps:LCL/BPEC Heat Pump Design & Installation.
• Compliance:G3 Unvented Hot Water, WRAS, and a comprehensive knowledge of MCS standards.
• Technical Expertise:Proven experience in low‑temperature hydraulic design and electrical fault‑finding.
• Soft Skills:A "consultative" mindset with the ability to translate technical data into actionable insights for non‑technical customers.
• Logistics:Based in/around East London or Ipswich, with a willingness to travel and occasional overnight stays.
