Job summary

Astute is recruiting a Technical Engineer to join its Power Team, delivering expert support in standby power, uninterruptible power supplies and CHP systems across the UK. You will provide technical support to offices, engineers and clients; back-office support for service coordinators and maintenance projects; and help with engineer reports and RAMS, with occasional out-of-hours coverage and site surveys.

• Strong practical engineering knowledge of generators and UPS.
• Fuel tank installation knowledge.
• Previous industry experience.
• Practical knowledge of ComAp and Deep Sea.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to the office, engineers and clients.
• Provide back-office support for Service Coordinators and Maintenance Projects.
• Support the back office with Engineer Reports.
• Liaise with the internal Technical Team and Senior Technical Engineer on product developments and improvements.
• Provide out-of-hours technical support to clients and engineers as part of the OOH management team.
• Support and carry out site audits.
• Complete site surveys to support Maintenance Sales, including compiling parts lists.
• Complete site surveys for remedial works and Maintenance Projects.
• Support the Senior Technical Engineer and Maintenance Director with engineer training and development.
• Support engineer quality control.
• Compile and approve RAMS.

Responsibilities and duties of the Technical Engineer role

• Provide technical support to the office, engineers and clients.
• Provide back-office support for Service Coordinators and Maintenance Projects.
• Support the back office with Engineer Reports.

Professional qualifications

• Strong practical engineering knowledge of generators and UPS.
• Fuel tank installation knowledge.
• Previous industry experience.
• Practical knowledge of high-level software-based control systems such as ComAp and Deep Sea.
• Strong IT skills, with fluency in Microsoft Office.
• Practical experience using laptop-based bespoke engine system analysis and control programmes, such as ComAp PC Suite and DSE Configuration Suite.
• Experience with multi-set and mains synchronisation controls.
• PLC programming skills.
• A mechanical or electrical qualification is desirable.

Salary and benefits of the Technical Engineer role

Salary: £45,000-£53,000

Working hours: 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm, with a 1-hour lunch break.
