Job summary

AtkinsRéalis' Design & Advanced Technology Practice is seeking a highly experienced Technical Director for Clean Water Process Engineering to shape the UK's water infrastructure. The role provides technical leadership across municipal drinking water treatment, water resources, and resilience programmes, guiding multidisciplinary teams to deliver sustainable solutions.

The successful candidate will drive business growth, mentor engineers, and strengthen client relationships with water utilities,

Qualifications

• Degree in Chemical or Process Engineering, with Chartered Engineer status (IChemE) or equivalent.
• Proven track record leading clean water and water resource projects.
• Experience in client engagement, bid leadership and business growth.
• Strong leadership, governance, and mentoring of engineers.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic technical leadership across major clean water projects and programmes.
• Oversee technical assurance, quality governance, and regulatory compliance.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams and drive innovative, resilient solutions.
• Mentor senior engineers and build future technical leaders.
• Develop client relationships and identify growth opportunities.
