Job description

Technical Coordinator

There is an exciting opportunity to join Bellway, one of the UK’s largest house builders. Our Yorkshire Division is looking to recruit a Technical Coordinator to join the Division’s Technical team. This role will consider part-time and full-time applications and is also a fixed-term contract.

The Role

The role of Technical Coordinator will be to support the Engineering manager in the management and overseeing of technical matters across multiple projects from conception to completion.

Principal accountabilities of the role include:

  1. Oversee all technical aspects across multiple projects of varying complexity
  2. Manage the design process to secure accurate and comprehensive sets of information from the outset including management tendering and appointment of design consultants
  3. Procurement and management of utilities / services and warranties and management of fees budget
  4. Discharge of planning & building regulation conditions
  5. Validating conveyance plans and easements
  6. Managing and satisfying regulatory bodies such as Planning, Building Control, and the Fire Brigade
  7. Control and issue of site information and drawings
  8. Liaise with the Commercial department to ensure all relevant orders are in place and budgets / cost to complete are accurate
  9. Work with the site and sales teams to provide support as necessary
Experience, Qualifications and Skills
Experience
  1. Architectural drawing experience
  2. Brown and green-field housing experience
  3. Exposure to medium-rise complex developments
  4. Experience and knowledge of building regulations and current NHBC standards is desirable
  5. Experience working as a coordinator / within a technical function for a volume house builder is desirable
Qualifications and Training
  1. Qualified to degree level or HNC/HND in a technical subject with relevant experience
  2. CSCS card or equivalent
  3. Current full UK driving licence
Skills and Aptitude
  1. Good understanding of building techniques, materials and regulations
  2. Good knowledge of CDM regulations
  3. Strong communication, listening, presentation skills and excellent attention to detail
  4. Methodical, conscientious, organised and works to deliver high standards
  5. Ability to recognise problems and deal with them in a speedy and effective manner
  6. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  7. Ability to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  8. Ability to problem solve and delegate effectively
  9. Proficient IT skills along with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook) and the ability to adapt to new systems.
