Position Summary:

This role reports to the Direct Purchasing Manager, is a six-month fixed-term contract based in Banbury, UK, and involves procurement of metallic machined components. The aim is to ensure the timely delivery of quality parts within budget, adhering to best practices.

Responsibilities include:
  • Sourcing and delivering parts to meet delivery, cost, and quality targets.
  • Promoting teamwork and effective communication across departments.
  • Negotiating prices to secure the best value.
  • Managing budgets and achieving procurement savings.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.
Key Tasks:
  • Following procurement policies and challenging cost, quality, and lead time standards.
  • Supporting task completion aligned with project timelines.
  • Raising purchase orders, expediting, and tracking deliveries.
  • Identifying quality and delivery risks and implementing corrective actions.
  • Assessing suppliers’ capabilities and negotiating costs.
  • Providing feedback to engineering to optimize costs and quality.
  • Auditing vendors and exploring outside solutions for the best outcomes.
  • Developing supplier relationships and managing invoice queries.
  • Negotiating terms and developing specifications.
  • Ensuring safety compliance at all venues.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with 3+ years of purchasing experience.
  • Strong technical knowledge of manufacturing processes.
  • Experience in sourcing commodities is advantageous.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
