Job summary

RecruitME is recruiting for a Technical Author for a defence and aerospace client. The role is based in Grantham, Lincolnshire, with hybrid working requiring one day per week in the office and a 36-hour week with a Friday half-day.

Responsibilities

• Produce high-quality technical documentation for defence, aerospace and engineering projects
• Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, technical data and applicable standards
• Gather information through technical research, engineering input and customer liaison
• Write clear operating, maintenance and installation procedures
• Produce documentation from first principles, source material or existing technical information
• Liaise with Project Managers, Senior Technical Authors, Directors, engineers and customers
• Ensure documentation is accurate, consistent and appropriate for its intended audience
• Carry out quality checks on documentation produced by other authors
• Follow internal quality, security and controlled-documentation procedures
• Support customer liaison and project coordination on smaller assignments
• Travel to customer sites occasionally where required

About the role

RecruitME is recruiting for a Technical Author on behalf of one of our longest-standing clients: a highly respected technical product support business with a long-established presence in the defence and aerospace sectors. The company has built an excellent reputation for producing high-quality technical documentation and product support solutions for complex engineering environments. Alongside its extensive defence and aerospace work, it also supports clients across manufacturing and automotive engineering. This is an excellent opportunity to join a secure, specialist and growing business with multiple projects underway and further growth anticipated over the next six to nine months.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce high-quality technical documentation for defence, aerospace and engineering projects

• Write clear operating, maintenance, repair and installation procedures
• Produce documentation from first principles, source material or existing technical information
• Liaise with Project Managers, Senior Technical Authors, Directors, engineers and customers
• Ensure documentation is accurate, consistent and appropriate for its intended audience
• Carry out quality checks on documentation produced by other authors
• Follow internal quality, security and controlled-documentation procedures
• Support customer liaison and project coordination on smaller assignments
• Travel to customer sites occasionally where required

You will be technically minded, highly organised and comfortable working with detailed engineering information.

• Experience working within quality, security or document-control procedures
• Experience within defence, aerospace, aviation, automotive, manufacturing, product support, maintenance, technical publications, ILS or another regulated engineering environment would be particularly advantageous

Location

The role is based in Grantham, Lincolnshire, with hybrid working requiring only one day per week in the office.

The location is accessible from: Newark, Sleaford, Stamford, Bourne, Melton Mowbray, Oakham, Lincoln, Nottingham, Peterborough and surrounding areas.

Contract & Working Hours

• 36-hour week
• Half-day finish every Friday
• 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
• Christmas shutdown
