Acorn by Synergie is recruiting an experienced Technical Writer to join the Service Engineering team of a leading global manufacturing and engineering company based in Portsmouth.

Key Duties
- Develop, write and maintain technical service documentation using input from engineers and subject matter experts.
- Produce clear, accurate and user-focused service manuals, maintenance procedures, installation guides, troubleshooting documentation, work instructions, spare parts information and technical records.
- Structure and format technical content using a Component Content Management System (CCMS) and approved authoring tools.
- Publish approved documentation to document management systems, service platforms and internal repositories.
- Ensure all technical documentation complies with ISO, cGMP, GDP, EHS, design control, product release, quality and regulatory requirements.
- Standardise technical documentation to improve consistency, usability, readability and content reuse for global Field Service Engineers.
- Identify documentation gaps, inconsistencies and technical risks, escalating issues where appropriate.
- Support documentation migration projects, ensuring service documentation is accurate, accessible and released on schedule.
- Manage document reviews, approvals, version control, publication and document traceability throughout the documentation lifecycle.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, service, quality and regulatory teams to deliver high-quality technical documentation.
Requirements
- Degree in Engineering, Life Sciences, Technical Communication, Language Processing, or a minimum of two years' experience in technical writing, technical authoring, engineering documentation or regulated documentation.
- Experience producing technical documentation including service manuals, work instructions, maintenance procedures, installation guides, troubleshooting guides, technical publications or spare parts documentation.
- Knowledge of ISO, cGMP, GDP, EHS, quality systems, design control, product release, document control, audits or regulated manufacturing environments.
- Experience using CCMS platforms, structured authoring tools, document management systems or standardised documentation templates.
- Ability to interpret complex technical information and produce clear, accurate, field-ready documentation.
- Excellent written English with exceptional grammar, structure, clarity and attention to detail.
- Experience maintaining document integrity, version control, revision history and traceability.
- Customer-focused approach with an understanding of how Field Service Engineers use technical documentation during installation, servicing, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
- Experience within life sciences, biotechnology, diagnostics, medical technology, engineering, manufacturing or other regulated industries.
- Experience using CCMS, document management systems and technical authoring software.
- Experience creating or working with technical illustrations, engineering diagrams, screenshots, photographs or graphics to support technical documentation.
