Job summary

RecruitME is recruiting for a Technical Author on behalf of a long‑standing client, a respected technical services provider. The role is based in Grantham, Lincolnshire, with hybrid working requiring only one day in the office each week.

You will produce clear, accurate documentation by interpreting drawings, CAD models and data, turning technical detail into user‑friendly manuals and procedures for various sectors including defence, manufacturing and automotive.

Qualifications

• Experience turning technical drawings, CAD models and data into clear user documentation.
• Ability to gather technical information from engineers and other sources.
• Experience producing manuals, maintenance documentation, operating procedures and technical publications.

Responsibilities

• Produce technical documentation for engineering and product support projects.

RecruitME is recruiting for a Technical Author on behalf of one of our longest-standing clients, a highly respected technical services business and proud ERS Gold Award holder.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a specialist product support services provider working across sectors including defence, manufacturing and automotive.

The business is extremely busy, with multiple projects currently underway and further growth expected over the next 6-9 months due to planned retirements within the team.

The role

As a Technical Author, you will produce clear, accurate and user-friendly technical documentation in line with customer requirements, project instructions and internal quality procedures.

You will gather technical information first hand, interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, design data and applicable standards, and turn complex technical detail into useful

documentation.

Projects may include technical manuals, maintenance documentation, operating procedures, controlled documentation, technical publications and interactive electronic manuals.

Key responsibilities

• Produce technical documentation for engineering and product support projects.
• Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, technical data and applicable standards.
• Gather technical information through research, customer contact and engineering input.
• Document procedures clearly and accurately from first principles or source material.
• Liaise with Project Managers, Senior Technical Authors, Directors, customers and internal teams.
• Support quality checks on technical documentation for format, clarity and technical accuracy.
• Follow quality, security and controlled documentation procedures.
• Support customer liaison on smaller projects where required.

Location

The role is based in Grantham, Lincolnshire, with hybrid working requiring only one day per week in the office.

Commutable from Newark, Sleaford, Stamford, Bourne, Melton Mowbray, Oakham, Lincoln, Nottingham and Peterborough.
