Job summary

d3t, a studio within Keywords Studios, is expanding its technical art team in the UK. The Technical Artist will help shape art pipelines across real-time game projects, ensuring performance and quality within a hybrid role based at our Daresbury or Newcastle sites.

You will work with Maya/3DS Max, Python, and shader/material workflows, collaborating with artists to push visual fidelity while meeting memory and frame-rate constraints. A 12-month fixed-term contract with extension is available.

Qualifications

• Must have strong understanding of real-time game art pipelines and rendering concepts.
• Experience delivering performant art within memory/frame-rate constraints.
• Excellent communication and organization within a multidisciplinary art team.
• Proactive problem-solving and ability to learn new tools/techniques.

Responsibilities

• Help establish and maintain project art pipelines from inception through lifecycle.
• Support art and animation teams, resolve technical issues.
• Create and integrate in-house toolsets; contribute to materials/shaders.
• Ensure artwork meets memory and frame-rate guidelines via profiling.
• Collaborate with artists to optimise asset performance while preserving visual fidelity.
• Ensure naming conventions and texture structures meet guidelines.
• Stay updated with industry tech; share knowledge with the team.
• Build tutorials/docs to improve pipeline efficiency and proactively solve issues.
• Advise on resourcing and production risks to Senior Technical Artist.
• Mentor other Technical Art Team members.
