Job description

Trydan Gwyrdd Cymru

Technical Analyst - Wales (Hybrid / 37 hours per week)

Attractive salary

Closing date: Noon 23 June 2025

Joining a Pioneering Publicly Owned Renewable Energy Developer

Trydan Gwyrdd Cymru, established by the Welsh Government in 2023, is driving Wales' transition to a cleaner, greener future. Our mission is to accelerate the rollout of renewable energy projects across the Welsh public estate, primarily through onshore wind and solar PV, placing net zero and community benefits at the heart of this transformation.

Our ambitious goal? One gigawatt of locally owned, locally generated clean energy by 2040. More than just power, we're generating revenue that will be reinvested in improving lives across Wales, creating high-quality green jobs, and fostering truly sustainable communities.

The current cost of living crisis underscores the essential role of energy in society. That's why we're committed to developing innovative models of benefit-sharing, ensuring our projects deliver meaningful and lasting improvements to the communities they serve.

Be Part of the Change

We are looking for a Technical Analyst to join our growing team. Reporting to the Technical Lead, you'll play a key role in the design and delivery of a pipeline of renewable onshore energy projects. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to Wales' clean energy future from the ground up.

What We're Looking For

  • Passion for sustainability, eager for a new challenge, and ready to make a real impact.
  • Hold a degree in a relevant discipline OR have professional experience in the geospatial or renewable energy sector.
  • Understanding of data management practices, including quality control and compliance with industry standards.
  • Practical experience using ESRI ArcGIS Professional software.
  • Familiarity with web-based GIS or enterprise GIS technologies.
  • Demonstrated continuous professional development (CPD).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.

Bonus Points If You Have

  • Understanding of CAD or experience using CAD data.
  • Experience with renewable energy analysis and design tools (e.g., WindPro, WindFarmer, PVsyst).

Location

We operate a hybrid working model, balancing remote work with office-based collaboration. While our Head Office is in Merthyr Tydfil, meetings and key activities will be held at various Welsh Government locations across Wales.

Why Join Us?

  • 28 days annual leave + 8 public holidays
  • A defined contribution pension scheme to support your future
  • Flexible working opportunities and an emphasis on work-life balance
  • An electric vehicle salary sacrifice scheme
  • A collaborative, inclusive, and supportive work environment

At Trydan Gwyrdd Cymru, we're building a workplace where diversity is valued and inclusion is a priority. We welcome applications from all underrepresented groups and do not discriminate based on race, gender, age, disability, sexual orientation, or any other factor. Flexible working requests will be considered.

If you're ready to be part of an exciting journey towards a more sustainable, locally powered future, we'd love to hear from you.
