Job summary

SCC is seeking an experienced Tech Specialist - Oracle Administrator to lead and manage enterprise Oracle Database services across production and non-production environments. The role focuses on availability, security, performance, and continuous improvement within a hybrid UK-wide office network including Birmingham.

You will collaborate with Infrastructure, Application, Security and Project teams to deliver resilient Oracle solutions and drive automation and operational excellence.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience administering large-scale enterprise Oracle Database environments.
• Expert knowledge of Oracle Database architecture, administration and troubleshooting.
• Proven experience supporting highly available, mission-critical production systems.
• Strong expertise across Oracle high availability, disaster recovery, database security and replication technologies.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting and performance tuning skills.
• Experience working within ITIL-based service management environments.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management and technical documentation skills.
• Ability to provide technical leadership while working collaboratively across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Commitment to continuous improvement, operational excellence and customer-focused service delivery.

Responsibilities

• OWN the delivery, operation and continuous improvement of enterprise Oracle Database services across production and non-production environments.
• LEAD the technical resolution of complex Oracle Database incidents, service requests and problem investigations, ensuring effective root cause analysis and permanent resolution.
• LEAD Oracle Database lifecycle activities, including implementation, configuration, upgrades, patching, migrations, maintenance and decommissioning.
• ENSURE Oracle Database platforms consistently meet agreed service levels for availability, resilience, performance, recoverability and security.
• DESIGN, IMPLEMENT AND CONTINUOUSLY IMPROVE Oracle high availability, disaster recovery, replication and database security solutions.
• LEAD Oracle Database technical delivery for infrastructure and application initiatives.
• DRIVE automation, standardisation and operational excellence across Oracle Database services.
• DEFINE, MAINTAIN AND CONTINUOUSLY IMPROVE Oracle Database standards, operational procedures and technical documentation.
• COLLABORATE with Infrastructure, Backup, Monitoring, Application, Security and Project teams to deliver scalable, resilient and secure Oracle Database services.

About The Role

Role: Tech Specialist - Oracle Administrator

Location: Any SCC office - Birmingham/London/Leeds/Manchester (SCC operate hybrid working, which comprises of a mix of office and home working)

Contract Type: Permanent

Salary Package: £45,000 - £52,0000 plus large company benefits, a broad flexible benefits scheme, and 2 paid-for volunteering days a year

Please note: This role requires the successful candidate to obtain and maintain NPPV clearance. Applicants must be eligible to undergo the relevant screening and vetting process.

Hours: 9.00 am – 5.30 pm Monday – Friday

Role purpose: As an Oracle DBA, you will provide technical leadership in delivering, supporting and continuously improving SCC's enterprise Oracle Database services supporting business-critical applications for its customers.
Working closely with Infrastructure, Application, Security and Project teams, you will help ensure Oracle Database platforms remain highly available, resilient, performant and secure and while contributing to modernization, automation and operational excellence initiatives

Security Clearance or eligibility to get it will be required for this role!
