Job summary

Ferns IT Consultancy Ltd seeks an experienced Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) to manage and support business-critical Oracle database environments. The role involves installing, patching, upgrading, monitoring performance, and ensuring high availability.

You will handle RMAN backups, Data Guard, capacity planning, and security. The position requires SC clearance and the ability to work in secure IT environments. This is a permanent vacancy.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience administering Oracle databases in production environments.
• Proficient with Oracle 12c/19c+ and SQL/PLSQL.
• Experience with RMAN backups and Data Guard.
• Strong Linux/Unix and shell scripting skills.

We are seeking an experienced Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) to manage, maintain and support business-critical Oracle database environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Install, configure, patch, upgrade and maintain Oracle databases.
• Monitor database availability, performance and capacity.
• Troubleshoot and resolve database and performance issues.
• Manage backups, restores and recovery using Oracle RMAN.
• Support Oracle Data Guard and high-availability environments.
• Perform SQL/PLSQL performance tuning and optimisation.
• Manage database security, users, roles and permissions.
• Perform database migrations, cloning and environment refreshes.
• Support production releases and disaster recovery activities.
• Maintain database documentation and operational procedures.

Essential Skills:

• Strong commercial Oracle DBA experience.
• Oracle 12c/19c or later.
• Oracle SQL and PL/SQL.
• RMAN backup and recovery.
• Oracle Data Guard.
• Performance tuning and troubleshooting.
• Linux/Unix and Shell Scripting.
• Experience supporting business-critical production environments.
• Oracle RAC/ASM/OEM experience is advantageous.

Security Clearance:

Active SC (Security Check) Clearance is mandatory.
