Job summary

SYSTRA UK & Ireland in Manchester is seeking a Principal Consultant (Software Development) to design, build and maintain high‑performance software systems. You will work with a cross‑functional team to deliver Paramics Discovery using C++, C#, and Python, across the full development lifecycle.

The role emphasizes code quality, testability and performance, with opportunities to shape architecture, review peers, optimise CI/CD pipelines, and mentor less experienced engineers in an agile

Qualifications

• Proficient in C++, C#, and Python with strong software engineering fundamentals.
• Experience with testing frameworks and performance profiling.
• Strong understanding of algorithms and data structures.
• Ability to review code and mentor others.
• Experience with SQL is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain SYSTRA's proprietary microsimulation software Paramics Discovery using C++, C#, and Python.
• Write clean, well-documented code with a focus on testability and performance.
• Contribute to architecture decisions and drive engineering best practices.
• Review peers' code and provide detailed feedback to raise quality.
• Collaborate with DevOps to optimise CI/CD pipelines and deployments.
• Mentor junior developers and support their growth.
• Engage in agile ceremonies and contribute to test strategies.
