Job summary

Fletchers Solicitors is seeking a Tech Lead to join our AI team and guide full-stack development. You will own systems and services enabling production AI tools across the legal sector, mentoring engineers and driving rapid prototyping to production.

The role combines hands-on development with strategic architecture, reporting to the Director of AI. You will lead the expansion from 10 to 20+ engineers and collaborate with internal users and external clients to deliver scalable AI solutions.

Qualifications

• Strong degree qualification in a STEM subject from a top-tier university.
• Experience leading development efforts and mentoring engineers.
• Ability to define backend and frontend architecture and set technical direction.

Responsibilities

• Design and drive the build of applications and services at the heart of production AI apps (backend: Python, frontend: TypeScript and React).
• Build systems that deploy, test, and scale those apps.
• Create scalable data integration pipelines from diverse sources (legacy systems, documents, PDFs, databases).
• Own software architecture and lead infrastructure and design decisions with business context.
• Own site reliability and disaster recovery for production systems.
• Collaborate with infra and security teams while shaping our internal AI standards.
• Develop software development standards for AI usage.
• Review code and mentor engineers to establish best practices.
• Grow the engineering team from 10 to 20+ with proper structure.
• Engage with internal users and external customers on pre-sale, setup, and integrations.
