Job Purpose
Manage daily operations of a portfolio of teams, ensuring high-quality, client-focused services. Lead practitioners, meet performance targets, and support professional development. Focus on caseload management, operational oversight, and staff development.
Key Responsibilities
Team Management
- Leadership & Support: Lead and manage practitioners, providing supervision, guidance, and performance reviews.
- Team Culture: Foster a positive, inclusive, and collaborative environment.
- Communication: Organise regular team meetings for communication and problem-solving.
- Development: Identify training needs and coordinate development opportunities.
Service Delivery
- Oversight: Ensure effective service delivery aligned with YSS’s vision.
- Evaluation: Monitor and improve service effectiveness.
- Compliance: Adhere to legal, ethical, and organisational standards, including safeguarding.
- Contractual Adherence: Meet contractual and performance metrics.
- Caseload Management: Manage a small caseload, providing tailored support.
Partnership and Stakeholder Engagement
- Relationship Building: Develop partnerships with local authorities, social services, and community organisations.
- Representation: Represent YSS at meetings and events.
- Collaboration: Work with stakeholders to advocate for service users and promote YSS’s services.
Operational Management
- Policy Compliance: Ensure team follows policies on safeguarding, data protection, health and safety, and risk management.
- Resource Management: Manage resources efficiently within budget.
- Reporting: Collaborate on reports regarding performance, outcomes, and activities.
Strategic Input
- Strategic Contribution: Contribute to strategic planning and service development.
- Innovation: Identify opportunities for service improvement and innovation.
Safeguarding Responsibility
- Act as Deputy Safeguarding Lead, managing safeguarding concerns and risk assessments.
- Ensure team is trained in safeguarding policies.
- Handle safeguarding incidents and promote a safeguarding culture.
Additional Requirements
- Occasional weekend/evening work may be required.
- Regular travel across the region (Telford, Shropshire, Worcestershire, Herefordshire); access to a car is essential.
- Comply with all organisational policies, including lone working, health and safety, and confidentiality.
- Maintain professionalism and uphold Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion principles.

Person Specification
- Proven experience leading service development within charity, care, or community services.
- Experience delivering or overseeing support services (counselling, education, advocacy, community programs).
- Strong safeguarding knowledge and risk management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging diverse groups and managing sensitive issues.
- Experience working with children, families, and vulnerable adults.
- Experience managing and leading small teams.
- Relevant qualifications in social work, education, health, or related fields.
- Financial awareness, including budget management and resource allocation.
