Job summary

Yeo Valley is seeking a Production Team Manager to lead our nights production team at the Newton Abbot site, ensuring safe, high-quality dairy products are produced efficiently. You’ll develop your team, drive improvements in quality, cost and performance, and collaborate with other functions to deliver on KPIs while maintaining the highest safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the production team to ensure effective delivery of products.
  • Lead Health & Safety within the area of responsibility and improve safety culture.
  • Develop the team to achieve targets and KPIs (safety, quality, delivery, cost).
  • Collaborate with other functions to plan, prioritise and deliver work.
  • Oversee handling of raw materials and dispatch of finished products.
  • Use computer systems and handheld devices to record and manage work.
  • Drive continuous improvement using CI principles.

So, what will I be doing?

At Yeo Valley, we're passionate about nurturing and nourishing people and the planet by making great food the right way, forever. At our Newton Abbot site where we make our delicious Ice Creams and Desserts, we are looking for a Team Manager to lead our Production Team on nights shift.

As Production Team Manager, you'll be responsible for leading and developing one of our Production Operation teams, while also building on and developing your own key leadership skills.

You’ll ensure our raw materials, prepared and finished products are produced to the highest standards in the safest environment. As well as making sure things are running smoothly, you’ll always be looking for ways to improve the quality, efficiency and production costs through engaging and supporting your team members and collaborating with other functions.

This is a permanent position working night shifts 18:00 until 6:00, 4 on 4 off.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Leading the team to ensure effective delivery of our products
  • Leading Health & Safety within the area of responsibility, engaging the team to ensure compliance and improve the safety culture
  • Developing the team to achieve targets. Engaging them and promoting autonomy to enable them to achieve theirKPI's; safety, quality, deliver, cost
  • Working collaboratively with other functions to ensure that work plans are agreed, prioritisedand delivered
  • Supporting and supervising in the following: Preparation of, receiving, handling and issuing of raw materials and the dispatch of finished product;
  • The use of a computer and software packages (Microsoft bias);
  • Using hand-held devices and relevant software systems;
  • Leading and developing the team to improve the quality, efficiencyand cost of productionthrough engagement and application of the leadership principles
  • Ensure your teamis compliant with quality standards
  • Deliver communication and reportingto the highest standard
  • Leading and developingthe team to focus on asset care and quality assurance
  • Leading continuousimprovement activities providing measured improvements through application ofCI principles
Sounds interesting, what do I need?

Even better if you have:
  • Previous management experience
  • Health & Safetyqualification, IOSH or other recognised qualification
  • Knowledge of Continuous Improvement application - 5s, SIC, RCA's, visual management
  • Experience of working with external auditors
  • Dairy science qualification
  • Experience of coaching and development
  • Asset care/ autonomous maintenance experience
  • Change management experience
  • Quality Control or Quality Assurance qualifications/experience
