Job summary

Peterborough City Council is seeking an experienced Team Manager for the 0-18 Children with Disabilities Service. You will provide operational leadership for statutory social work interventions, supervise social workers and family/child support practitioners, and drive service improvement.

You will lead a team delivering services to children with disabilities, ensure robust safeguarding, manage complex assessments and look after children, and collaborate with health, education and community

Qualifications

• Qualified and registered Social Worker with experience working with children and families.
• Experience supervising social work practitioners.
• Knowledge of Children Act 1989, Children and Families Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act and safeguarding procedures.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise a team delivering services to children and young people with disabilities (0–18).
• Ensure robust safeguarding practice and compliance with statutory duties and legislation.
• Provide high-quality supervision, coaching and professional challenge.
• Oversee complex assessments, child in need planning, child protection processes and looked after children.
• Collaborate with families to understand needs and aspirations; build partnerships with health, education and community organisations.
• Use data and performance information to drive continuous improvement.
• Support service development and contribute to strategic planning across Children's Services.
