Job summary

Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council invites applications for a Team Manager in the Preparing for Adulthood team within Adult Social Care. Lead a skilled team to deliver proactive, outcomes-focused support for young people as they transition to adulthood.

Build strong partnerships across Children’s Social Care, SEND, Education and Health to reduce barriers and create seamless pathways. You will be a registered Social Worker with extensive Adult Social Care experience, and a deep understanding

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Team Manager in the Preparing for Adulthood team in Rotherham Adult Social Care.

About the Team

Our Preparing for Adulthood Team works with young people from the age of 14 onwards who are likely to require support from Adult Social Care.

The team has a unique and influential role in supporting young people, families and professionals to plan positively for adulthood and ensure that transitions are proactive, coordinated and focused on outcomes rather than services.

About the Role

You will provide leadership to a skilled and committed team, creating an environment where professional curiosity, innovation and strengths-based practice thrive. You will support practitioners to work creatively with young people and families, ensuring plans are built around aspirations, outcomes and opportunities rather than limitations.

You will play a key role in strengthening partnerships across Children's Social Care, SEND Services, Education, Health and Adult Social Care, helping to remove barriers and create pathways that support young people to flourish as adults.

About You

You will be a registered Social Worker with substantial experience within Adult Social Care and a strong understanding of Children’s legislation and transition practice.

You will bring:

• Strong and inspirational leadership skills.
• Experience of developing and supporting high-performing teams.
• A passion for strengths-based, relationship-focused practice.
• The ability to build credibility and influence across organisational boundaries.

You will have a comprehensive understanding of the legislative and policy framework that underpins preparing for adulthood and transition work, including:

• Care Act 2014.
• Children Act 1989 and 2004.
• Children and Families Act 2014.
• SEND Code of Practice.
• Mental Capacity Act 2005.
• Working Together to Safeguard Children.
• Safeguarding Adults Procedures.
• Education, Health and Care Plan processes.
• National Preparing for Adulthood principles and pathways.
