Grade/Salary: Grade 6 (£38,510 - £40,444 per year) Hours/Type: Full time 37 hours per week, permanent Location: Sandbeck House Office Closing Date:14 October 2026 Interviews: 20 & 23 October 2026
St Leger Homes is recruiting a Team Leader to join our Housing Services Team
The primary focus of this Team Leader role will be to lead, develop and grow the Furnished Tenancies Service. You will provide clear operational leadership, strengthen oversight and performance, and ensure the service is well positioned to respond to increasing demand and deliver positive outcomes for customers. Based within the Central Area Team at St James Street, you will also provide dedicated management oversight for the Balby Bridge neighbourhood, lead a team of Housing Officers and oversee day-to-day housing management activity. A further key focus will be leading borough-wide complaints analysis and ensuring that learning is translated into practical and measurable service improvements. You will work closely with colleagues, customers, Council services and partner agencies to create safe, sustainable and vibrant communities.

  • Leading the Furnished Tenancies Service, supporting its continued growth and ensuring it is positioned to meet increasing demand. This will include strengthening oversight of furnished stock, suppliers, costs and service standards; promoting value for money; and ensuring the service supports tenancy sustainability and delivers positive outcomes for customers.
  • Providing dedicated leadership and oversight for the Balby Bridge neighbourhood, increasing management visibility, enabling targeted intervention and strengthening multi-agency working in this identified priority area.
  • Leading and motivating a team of Housing Officers to support the delivery of excellent housing services.
  • Overseeing day-to-day tenancy and estate management, including anti-social behaviour case management and preventative neighbourhood activity.
  • Providing clear leadership for complaints learning across the borough by analysing themes and trends, identifying root causes, agreeing improvement actions and ensuring clear ownership. You will monitor delivery, evaluate impact and provide assurance that learning has been embedded and is achieving measurable improvements for customers.
  • Leading quality assurance, staff development and performance management, ensuring service targets, standards and customer outcomes are consistently achieved.
  • Working closely with Council services and partner agencies to deliver coordinated interventions.
  • focus on long-term, preventative service improvement rather than purely reactive day-to-day demands.

  • Experience of leading and developing teams within housing or a customer-focused environment.
  • Experience of managing or developing a Furnished Tenancies Service, or a comparable operational service involving stock, suppliers, budgets, customer demand and service performance.

  • The ability to analyse complaints and performance information, identify learning and turn findings into effective service improvements.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, partnership-working and problem-solving skills.
  • A commitment to quality assurance, staff development, outstanding customer service and sustainable community outcomes.
