Job summary

Network Rail is seeking a skilled supervisor to direct a high performing team responsible for inspection, faulting, maintenance and renewal activities. The role prioritises safety, quality and efficient delivery, with on-call requirements and adherence to safe systems of work.

You will lead, motivate and develop staff, ensuring assets, vehicles and equipment are fit for purpose. You will also produce vital reports to support operational performance and hold responsibilities across days, nights

Who We Are

You’ll lead, motivate and develop a high performing team responsible for inspection, faulting, maintenance and renewal activities. Every day will bring new challenges and the chance to make a tangible difference to railway safety and performance.

You’ll

This is a safety critical role, which may involve days, nights, weekends, on call working, and is subject to medical, drug and alcohol testing. Please note there will be a requirement to work on call.

About The Role

We’ll look to you to direct, organise and motivate a high performing team. From inspection and faulting through to maintenance and renewal, you’ll play a hands‑on role. You’ll make sure everything is done efficiently and to the highest standards. Safety will be a priority. You’ll establish appropriate safety arrangements and make sure Network Rail staff and contractors alike follow safe systems of work. Proactively controlling and checking the quality of work and the competence of your people, you’ll see to it that assets are fully compliant, and all vehicles, plant, tools, equipment and materials are fit for purpose. Along the way, you’ll compile a range of vital reports.

Essential Criteria
  • Experience of organising and controlling the safe and efficient delivery of work
  • Excellent communication skills, both in person and in writing
  • Knowledge of discipline‑specific maintenance, inspection, faulting, and renewal techniques including working standards NR/L3/SIG/10663 and NR/L3/SIG/11231
  • Knowledge of relevant standards, procedures, and instructionsA clear and inspirational leader with a strong sense of direction
Desirable Criteria
  • Hold or be working towards an NVQ level 2 or 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant subject or have attained the appropriate level of knowledge gained through equivalent relevant experience
  • Able and willing to drive vehicles as required by business need
  • The candidate will have experience in Railway Signalling, ideally Team Leading

Salary: £56,777
