Job summary

Carrington West is seeking an experienced S&T Team Leader to supervise and mentor a signalling team across multiple Leeds and Wakefield locations. The role involves delivering safety-critical rail works, faulting, inspections and renewals in line with NR standards and the IRSE licence requirements.

You will actively contribute to safety, quality and performance, manage resources, and collaborate with Network Rail and contractors to ensure timely, compliant delivery in a fast-paced railway

Qualifications

  • Experience leading signalling works safely and efficiently.
  • Strong understanding of faulting, inspection and renewal techniques.
  • Knowledge of NR/L3/SIG/10663 and NR/L3/SIG/11231 standards is desirable.
  • IRSE Combined Signalling Maintainer & Fault Finder Licence (1.4.230) is required or desirable.

Are you an S&T Team Leader with an IRSE Combined Signalling Maintainer & Fault Finder Licence (1.4.230)?

Do you have a strong understanding of signalling maintenance, faulting, inspection, and renewal techniques abiding by NR/L3/SIG/10663 and NR/L3/SIG/11231 standards?

Location: 3 x Leeds / 2 x Wakefield

Money: £54,698 + Shift Premium + Overtime + On-Call

A client organization is looking for multiple experienced S&T Team Leaders to support critical maintenance, faulting, inspection, and renewal works across the network.

The Role:

As an S&T Team Leader, you'll be responsible for leading and motivating a team delivering safety-critical rail works across the network. You'll ensure all activities are completed safely, compliantly, and to the highest operational standards.

This is a hands-on role requiring a strong technical signalling background alongside leadership capability and a proactive approach to safety, quality, and team performance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and organise signalling maintenance, inspection, faulting, and renewal activities
  • Ensure safe systems of work and robust safety arrangements are maintained at all times
  • Monitor quality, compliance, and team competence across all works
  • Ensure tools, vehicles, plant, and equipment remain fit for purpose
  • Produce operational and compliance reports to support delivery performance
  • Support and mentor team members while setting high working standards
  • Work collaboratively with Network Rail teams, contractors, and stakeholders
Essential Experience:
  • Previous Team Leader experience
  • Organising and delivering signalling works safely and efficiently
  • Strong understanding of signalling maintenance, faulting, inspection, and renewal techniques
  • Knowledge of relevant Network Rail standards including:
    • NR/L3/SIG/10663
    • NR/L3/SIG/11231
  • Valid IRSE Combined Signalling Maintainer & Fault Finder Licence (1.4.230)
Desirable:
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Ability to work shifts, weekends, nights, and on-call as required
