Job summary

Rayner in Worthing leads a fast-paced production team in the Primary Pack Department, combining leadership with hands-on involvement on the shop floor to meet targets and uphold quality and safety standards.

You will oversee a team of Production Technicians, drive productivity, support training, and contribute to continuous improvement while ensuring GMP and cleanroom compliance in all activities.

Qualifications

Job description

We are looking for a proactive and hands‑on Team Leader to support the day‑to‑day running of our production operations in our Primary Pack Department. This is a fast‑paced role that combines leadership with practical involvement on the production floor, ensuring operational targets, quality standards, and safety requirements are consistently achieved.

You will lead and support a team of Production Technicians within a controlled manufacturing environment, helping to drive productivity, continuous improvement, and team development. The role requires a strong technical understanding of the production area, along with the ability to motivate others and lead by example.

Within this area, you’ll oversee key stages of the manufacturing and inspection process, including product inspection, labelling, sterilisation, and injector assembly. Attention to detail and adherence to GMP and cleanroom standards are essential to ensure products meet the highest quality standards before progressing through production.

You’ll work closely with the Production Managers to support team performance, training, staffing requirements, and process improvements, while acting as a key point of support for technicians across the department.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Oversee room performance, working both on and off machines and processes where required to achieve production targets.
  • Support daily production workflows and provide clear direction to team members in line with operational demands.
  • Carry out and oversee production activities including.
  • Ensure all cleanroom PPE and hygiene requirements are always followed.
  • Support process improvement initiatives and assist with implementing new ways of working.
  • Lead staff training and certification activities where required.
  • Act as a key technical support person within the area, assisting new starters and maintaining team capability.
  • Review forward production demand with the Area Lead to support overtime, staffing, and training plans.
  • Support the management of team performance, behaviour, attendance, and engagement in line with company procedures and HR guidance.
  • Promote a positive working culture through coaching, recognition, and constructive feedback.
  • Complete all required production documentation accurately and in accordance with GMP standards.
  • Carry out any additional duties required to support the production operation.

  • Follow all Health & Safety procedures, SOPs, and company policies.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and compliance within the production environment.
  • Ensure Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards are consistently followed.
  • Use all PPE correctly.
  • Promote safe working practices and support a culture of quality and continuous improvement.

  • Computer literacy and confidence working with production records/data

  • Positive attitude towards change and continuous improvement
  • Experience working within a regulated manufacturing environment
  • Understanding of GMP or cleanroom working practices
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, or Continuous Improvement methodologies
  • Ability to make effective decisions and follow them through consistently
