Job summary

TQR Consultancy Ltd is seeking a hands-on Production Team Leader to manage day-to-day production operations and lead a team of Process/Manufacturing Operatives. You will drive safety, quality, cost, delivery and people metrics, while stepping in as a Process Operator when required.

You will ensure production plans are met, uphold GMP standards, mentor staff, and foster continuous improvement. A strong focus on Lean principles and Right First Time is essential.

Qualifications

  • GCSEs including Maths and English.
  • Experience in manufacturing with team leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety practices.
  • Knowledge of GMP, ideally within a regulated industry.

  • Take daily responsibility for achieving KPIs (Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, People).
  • Promote a zero-accident culture through proactive safety risk identification.
  • Provide daily leadership and direction to Manufacturing Operators.
  • Maintain high-quality standards in line with GMP requirements and customer specs.
  • Ensure adherence to production plans to meet customer delivery expectations (OTIF).
  • Develop team capability through multi-skilling and Lean leadership principles.

Job description

The Role

Reporting to the Production Manager, you will support the day-to-day management of production operations. You will lead a team of Process/Manufacturing Operatives, ensuring performance targets are achieved across Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery and People metrics.

This is a hands-on leadership role, and you will be expected to operate as a Process Operator when required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Take daily responsibility for achieving Key Performance Indicators (Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, People).
  • Promote and drive a zero-accident culture through proactive identification of safety risks.
  • Ensure strict adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Provide daily leadership and direction to a team of Manufacturing Operators.
  • Maintain high-quality standards in line with Medical Device and GMP requirements.
  • Ensure adherence to production plans to meet customer delivery expectations (OTIF).
  • Monitor product compliance with customer specifications.
  • Lead and promote best practice in Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).
  • Conduct performance checks and provide accurate operational updates.
  • Drive improvements in Right First Time and accurate batch record completion.
  • Plan labour requirements, including managing sickness and holiday cover.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to reduce waste and improve cost efficiency.
  • Attend planning meetings and provide clear production updates.
  • Develop team capability through multi-skilling initiatives.
  • Coach and mentor team members using Lean leadership principles.
  • Support temporary labour planning where required.
  • Take responsibility for daily operational decisions to ensure production targets are met.
  • Communicate effectively across shifts using verbal, written, email and visual management tools.
  • Lead manufacturing activities in the absence of the Production Supervisor.
About You
  • GCSE level education (including Maths and English) or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in a manufacturing environment, with prior team leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety practices.
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), ideally within a regulated industry.
  • Ability to follow and communicate detailed instructions and standard operating procedures.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • High level of attention to detail and computer literacy.
  • Flexible approach to working hours to meet business needs.
  • Experience of Lean Manufacturing principles would be advantageous.
