Job summary

Mego Employment is seeking a Team Leader for a Plymouth-based manufacturing operation. You will lead a team of Manufacturing Operators, manage shifts, and drive safety, quality, and performance in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires supervising a team, implementing GMP practices, and ensuring high standards of delivery while collaborating with cross-functional teams across shifts.

Qualifications

• GCSE level education including English and Maths
• Experience in manufacturing environments
• Ability to supervise or lead a team
• Strong Health & Safety knowledge in production

Responsibilities

• Lead, support, and develop a team of Manufacturing Operators to achieve daily production and performance targets.
• Drive performance in Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery and People metrics.
• Promote a zero-accident culture by identifying safety hazards and ensuring policies are followed.
• Ensure GMP-compliant quality standards are maintained.
• Assist labour planning, monitor sickness and holiday cover, and help deliver production plans.
• Collaborate with Production, Quality, R&D and planning teams across shifts.
• Identify opportunities to reduce waste, cut costs, and improve Right First Time and batch records.

Team Leader - Manufacturing and Production

Location: Plymouth, UK (on-site)
Salary: £36,500 per annum
Employment Type: Permanent
Hours: Full Time - 37.5 hours / split shifts 06:00-14:00 / 14:00-22:00

Our client, a well-established manufacturing business in Plymouth, is seeking a Team Leader to support their production operations. This role involves leading a team of Manufacturing Operators to meet production targets while maintaining high standards of safety and quality.

The Role:

• Lead, support, and develop a team of Manufacturing Operators to achieve daily production and performance targets.
• Drive performance in line with key business metrics including Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, and People.
• Promote a zero-accident culture by proactively identifying safety hazards and ensuring company policies are followed.
• Ensure high standards of quality are achieved in line with Medical Device Standards and Good Manufacturing Practice.
• Support labour planning, monitor sickness and holiday cover, and help ensure production plans are delivered efficiently.
• Work closely with Production, Quality, R&D, and planning teams to provide clear and accurate communication across shifts.
• Identify opportunities to reduce waste, lower costs, and improve Right First Time performance and batch record completion.

Required Expertise:

• Previous experience within a manufacturing environment, ideally with experience supervising or leading a team.
• Good understanding of Health and Safety procedures within a production or manufacturing setting.
• Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practice and the ability to work to high quality standards.
• Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail.
