Job summary

Health Recruit Network is seeking an experienced Children’s Residential Team Leader for a 6-bed home in Lymington, supporting children aged 4 to 18 with learning disabilities. You will lead shifts, supervise staff and ensure consistently high-quality care.

You will work with the Deputy Manager to uphold safeguarding standards, manage care plans and documentation, and help young people develop independence and life skills. £17.00 per hour, permanent full-time, with benefits.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years' experience in children's residential care.
• Experience with learning disabilities and/or autism.
• Experience supervising or leading a team within residential childcare.
• Level 3 or Level 4 Residential Childcare qualification.

Responsibilities

• Lead shifts and ensure the home operates safely and effectively.

About the Home

The home is a 6-bed residential children’s home supporting children and young people aged 4 to 18 with learning disabilities. Located in Lymington, the home provides a safe, nurturing and supportive environment where children and young people can develop their independence, build confidence and reach their potential. The service takes an individualised approach to care, with a strong emphasis on empathy, respect, inclusion and recognising each young person as an individual.

About the Role

As a Children’s Residential Team Leader, you will play an important role in the day-to-day running of the home. Working alongside the Deputy Manager, you will help lead and support a team of Residential Support Workers to ensure children and young people receive consistently high-quality care.

Responsibilities

• Leading shifts confidently and ensuring the home operates safely and effectively.
• Supervising, supporting and motivating Residential Support Workers.
• Providing effective staff supervision and promoting good practice.
• Supporting the implementation and review of care plans, risk assessments and action plans.
• Ensuring relevant LAC documentation and records are accurate and kept up to date.
• Participating in reviews, meetings and other professional discussions as required.
• Ensuring all necessary records and paperwork are completed accurately at the end of shifts.
• Supporting children and young people with their personal care, health, wellbeing and daily routines.
• Helping young people develop independence and life skills.
• Supporting with everyday household responsibilities, including cooking, cleaning and shopping.
• Creating a positive, safe and nurturing environment where young people can enjoy a fulfilling childhood.
• Working closely with the management team and wider professional network to ensure the needs of each young person remain at the centre of their care.

About You

We are looking for an experienced Children’s Residential Team Leader who can demonstrate strong leadership skills and a genuine commitment to improving outcomes for children and young people. You will ideally have:

• At least 2 years' experience working in a children's residential care setting.
• Experience supporting children or young people with learning disabilities and/or autism.
• Experience supporting individuals whose behaviour may challenge.
• Previous leadership, senior or supervisory experience within residential childcare.
• A Level 3 or Level 4 qualification in Residential Childcare.
• A strong understanding of safeguarding and good residential childcare practice.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• The confidence to lead a shift and support colleagues effectively.
• A caring, patient and non-judgemental approach.
• The ability to maintain accurate records and complete required documentation.
• A genuine passion for helping children and young people develop, learn and become as independent as possible.
• A full driving licence is preferred.
