Job summary

SUEZ is seeking a site-based supervisor for the Blackpool Transfer Station. This permanent, full-time role involves leading daily operations, overseeing mobile plant equipment, and ensuring high standards of recycling performance.

You will report to the Area Supervisor and support a busy site with a focus on safety, paperwork accuracy, and regulatory compliance. The position offers a 47.5 hour week at £13.80 per hour, with training travel to nearby sites as required.

Qualifications

  • Broad knowledge of mobile plant and equipment used in Waste Management and Recycling.
  • Certification of mobile plant is desirable, training may be provided.
  • Capable of working well in a team with excellent communication (written and verbal).
  • Understanding of safe waste handling and recycling practices is desirable.
  • Previous experience in a similar role would be advantageous.
  • Overtime and flexibility required due to 7-day operations.

About The Role

Location: Blackpool Transfer Station, Ashworth Rd Blackpool, FY4 5LP

  • £13.80 per hour
  • Working 47.5 hour per week
  • Working Monday - Friday, 8.00 am - 17:30 pm.
  • Role is reporting into site supervisor
What will I be doing?
You Will Be:
  • Reporting into the Area Supervisor, you will look after the day-to-day operation of the busy HWRC / Transfer Station.
  • To oversee the operation and routine maintenance of mobile plant items.
  • Ensure that recycling and diversion from landfill is maximised as much as possible.
  • Under the direction of management, ensure compliance with relevant legislation and company policies is maintained.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations and the environmental permit for the site is maintained.
  • Ensure all relevant paperwork is accurately completed and correctly returned to the Administration Department on a daily, weekly and/or monthly basis.
  • Responsible for the correct use of the permit to work system.
  • Booking of Contractors loads out of the site
  • Travel to undertake training requirements as well as travel to other sites in the area for staff cover.
  • Any other reasonable request or duties
What are the requirements?

  • You must be capable of working within a team and have excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • An understanding of safe waste handling and recycling practices is desirable.
  • Previous experience of a similar role would be advantageous.
  • A degree of overtime and flexibility is required, as the operations run over a 7-day working week, including all English Bank Holidays.
