Job summary

SUEZ in Taunton, United Kingdom, is seeking a proactive Team Leader to support site supervisors and drive daily production at the facility.

You will coordinate resources with Bulk Haulage & Trading, lead toolbox talks, and oversee audits and performance management, fostering a lean, safe working environment and high housekeeping standards.

Qualifications

• Interest in gaining experience in a first line management role and developing personnel skills.
• Self-motivated and able to work as part of a team.
• Flexible approach to work and willing to work overtime.
• Ideally hold or be expected to achieve ISOH Managing Safely qualification.
• Computer literate.
• License for one or both machines preferred; training can be provided.
• Mobile plant experience would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Assist Site Supervisors with day-to-day management of the team.
• Coordinate with Bulk Haulage & Trading to ensure resources for moving material on/off site.
• Help site management achieve daily production targets and maximise production time.
• Complete daily permits to work.
• Maintain shift logs and provide daily performance feedback to teams.
• Carry out toolbox talks for Safe Systems and Safety Alerts.
• Assist Supervisors with weekly audits, action plans and corrective actions; support inductions and training.
• Assist with day-to-day performance management of employees.
• Carry out Waste Acceptance Checks and reject non-compliant material as per customer contracts.
• Ensure segregation of all recyclable materials on site.
• Control housekeeping to conform to Safe Systems of Work and Company Policies.
• Promote a safety-focused culture and lean processes on site.
• Ensure equipment is used and maintained safely; report defects and maintain housekeeping.
• Carry out 5's audits and SIM observations to maintain safety and lean culture.
• Ensure SUEZ complies with health, safety and welfare duties.
• Any other duties reasonably requested within the scope of the role.

Job description

What will I be doing?

As the team leader you will be:

• Assisting Site Supervisors with the day to day management of the team.
• Co-ordinating with Bulk Haulage & Trading colleagues to ensure the provision of adequate resources to move material into and off site, in a timely manner.
• Assist the site management to ensure daily production targets are achieved & production time is maximised at the facility.
• Completion of daily permit to works.
• Maintaining Shift Log’s and provide daily feedback on performance to teams.
• Carry out toolbox talks for Safe Systems and Safety Alerts.
• Assisting Supervisors with weekly audits, action plans and oversee corrective actions, as well as with employee inductions, briefings and training.
• Assisting Supervisors with the day to day performance management of employees.
• Carrying out Waste Acceptance Checks on incoming material and carry out rejections as required in line with that specific customer’s contract.
• Ensuring the segregation of all recyclable materials at the facility is maximised.
• Controlling housekeeping activities to ensure all are carried out in a safe manner and conform to the Safe Systems of Work and Company Policies.
• Promoting a culture and operating process that keeps focus on health and safety.
• Ensuring all work equipment within their area is used and maintained in a safe manner, all defects reported, and a high standard of housekeeping is maintained.
• Carry out 5’s audits and SIM observations to promote and maintain the safety & lean culture on site.
• Ensuring that SUEZ complies fully with its legal duties in respect of the health, safety and welfare of its employees.
• Any other duties that are reasonably requested within the scope of the job role.

What are the requirements?

• This is an ideal opportunity for any employee who is interested in gaining experience in a first line management role, and who are keen to progress and develop their personnel skills.
• The applicant must be self-motivated and be able to work as part of a team.
• A flexible approach to work will be advantageous as you may be expected to work overtime as required.
• Ideally, the successful candidate will either already hold or be expected to achieve the ISOH Managing Safely Qualification.
• You will also be computer literate.
• That the ideal candidate would hold a license for 1 or both machines however training can be provided.
• Any mobile plant experience would be advantageous.
