Job summary

SUEZ requires an experienced supervisor to manage the day-to-day operation of a busy HWRC/Transfer Station in the Lancashire area. You will oversee mobile plant maintenance, promote recycling and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and environmental permits.

Working within management direction, you will handle paperwork, operate the permit to work system, and travel to other sites in the area for staff cover as needed.

Qualifications

• Broad knowledge of mobile plant and equipment used in Waste Management and Recycling.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work in a team and flexibility to work overtime.

Responsibilities

• Look after the day-to-day operation of the busy HWRC / Transfer Station.
• Oversee the operation and routine maintenance of mobile plant items.
• Ensure recycling and diversion from landfill is maximised.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and environmental permit.
• Complete and return all relevant paperwork to Administration on schedule.
• Manage the permit to work system usage and contractor loads.

Job description

What will I be doing?

You will be:

• Reporting into the Area Supervisor, you will look after the day-to-day operation of the busy HWRC / Transfer Station.
• To oversee the operation and routine maintenance of mobile plant items.
• Ensure that recycling and diversion from landfill is maximised as much as possible.
• Under the direction of management, ensure compliance with relevant legislation and company policies is maintained.
• Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations and the environmental permit for the site is maintained.
• Ensure all relevant paperwork is accurately completed and correctly returned to the Administration Department on a daily, weekly and/or monthly basis.
• Responsible for the correct use of the permit to work system.
• Booking of Contractors loads out of the site
• Travel to undertake training requirements as well as travel to other sites in the area for staff cover.
• Any other reasonable request or duties

What are the requirements?

• A broad knowledge of mobile plant and any other applicable equipment used within the Waste Management and Recycling.
• Certification of mobile plant used in site is desirable, although training may be given.
• You must be capable of working within a team and have excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
• An understanding of safe waste handling and recycling practices is desirable.
• Previous experience of a similar role would be advantageous.
• A degree of overtime and flexibility is required, as the operations run over a 7-day working week, including all English Bank Holidays.
