Central Recruitment is seeking a Team Leader in the Catford area to provide supervised, supportive housing services for adults with mental health needs. The role covers two services, with 24/7 on-site staffing and temporary cover for about 3 months, potentially leading to permanent employment.

Responsibilities include leading 5–6 staff, day-to-day unit management, safeguarding, stakeholder communication, and maintaining budgetary controls. DBS and right-to-work in the UK are required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage 5–6 staff, guiding them on roles and boundaries.
  • Oversee day-to-day management of the designated unit.
  • Provide training, supervision and support to staff as needed.
  • Maintain clear communication with Management, family members and external parties.
  • Ensure 24/7 on-site presence and adequate staffing levels.
  • Manage petty cash and produce weekly invoices and POs to Head Office.
  • Develop tenants' needs overview and arrange meaningful activities.
  • Prepare reports for case conferences, courts and CPA meetings.
  • Liaise with GPs, social workers and health professionals to safeguard residents’ well-being.
  • Assist SMT with recruitment and ensure budgets are adhered to.
  • Handle complaints promptly and maintain records in complaints book.

Job description

Central Recruitment is working with an organisation that provides supported housing and living services to vulnerable adults suffering from mental health conditions and homelessness.

Our client is currently recruiting for a Team Leader, to work in the Catford area at a service providing low - medium level support to individuals with mental health needs.

  • 45 hours per week
  • Monday - Friday, 8AM - 6PM
  • Temporary cover required for approximately 3 months with the possibility of transferring to permanent
  • £18.44 per hour (£16.45 per hour, with £1.99 holiday pay)

Please note: This role involves working across two services in the Catford area.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage 5-6 staff members, providing leadership and management support to ensure staff understand the expectations and boundaries of their roles
  • Be responsible for the day-to-day management of designated Unit
  • Ensure that all staff are provided with the appropriate support, guidance, training and supervision necessary to carry out their duties in a responsive and responsive manner
  • Maintain effective communication with all stakeholders including the Management and Business Support Teams, family members and external parties
  • Ensure that the service is adequately always staffed and that an appropriate on-site presence is maintained over 24 hours, seven days per week
  • Be responsible for the Petty Cash and manage in line with company policy and to provide weekly invoices and Purchase Orders to Head office
  • Develop and maintain an overview of tenants needs and to ensure the appropriate intervention by the support work team to ensure meaningful activities are provided for the residents and that residents are encouraged to remain as independent and active as possible
  • Be responsible for the operation of systems relating to Residents Personal Expenses and MoneyProvide written reports for case conferences, Courts, review meetings, CPA meetings etc
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with GPs, social workers, nurses and other professionals in order that the health and well-being of residents is always maintained
  • Assist the SMT in all aspects of staff recruitment in line with company Policy and Procedures
  • Ensure that the allocated budgets relating to all aspects of designated are adhered to and managed effectively.
  • Ensure that all complaints are responded to as soon as possible and recorded in the complaints book and to ensure that all tenants and relatives are aware of the complaint's procedure.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
  • Experience providing support to a team of staff
  • A clear understanding of Safeguarding and the reporting process required
  • Experience of service delivery and support
  • Knowledge and understanding of mental health conditions, and issues related to both alcohol and substance abuse.
  • Experience of compiling comprehensive assessments and SMART action plans
  • IT skills necessary to compile correspondence and reports
FURTHER REQUIREMENTS

In order to register with Central Recruitment Services for temporary agency work, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Current valid right to work in the UK
  • Minimum 12 months' of paid experience in a front line social care role within the last 3 years* (unless recruitment criteria states otherwise)
  • A fully enhanced DBS either registered on the DBS update service or issued within the last 12 months, or willingness to apply for one through Central (at a cost of £60)
  • Employment or education history to cover the last 5 years which can be verified through the referencing process
