Job summary

National Grid Electricity Distribution is seeking a Team Leader for the Alfreton depot, covering the Chesterfield & Mansfield area. You will lead a group of Craft staff, supervise safety, schedule work and drive efficiency.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of leading teams, driving performance and handling escalations with internal and external stakeholders. A strong communicator who can build client relationships is essential.

Job Introduction

An opportunity is available for a Team Leader based at our Alfreton depot in Chesterfield & Mansfield area, who will report to the Field Operations Team Manager and will be responsible for leading a group of Craft (operational) staff.

The key focus of this role is to lead an efficient and productive team across a region. Key considerations for the successful running of your team include: ensuring they are working compliantly within H&S policies, coordinating programmes of work for them to undertake, maximising efficiencies in delivery, ensuring your team has the appropriate development and authorisations and effectively managing performance on a 1:1 basis.

This is a crucial role to help drive forward performance and give our large teams the support they need in the field.

* The starting salary £45,492 moving to £49,369 on completion of training

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for an excellent communicator, who has the ability to build strong relationships with our customers. A problem solver who is organised and can plan ahead.

You must have a proven track record of managing teams including managing and driving performance, as well as experience of being the point of escalation for both internal and external stakeholders.

You’ll need a good understanding or the ability to quickly develop knowledge of:

  • Electricity Safety
  • Health & Safety Legislation
  • Quality & Continuity Regulations 2002
  • Electricity at Work Regulations 1989
  • The NGED distribution business
  • NGED Craft roles and activities undertaken

Some Commercial and Financial awareness would be an advantage.

A NRSWA qualification or understanding of NRSWA legislation is desirable however, full training can be provided.

You must hold a full, valid UK/EU driving licence as you will be required to carry out site visits.

Additionally, for operational purposes the successful candidate should live within 60 minutes of DE55 4QT.
